ABOUT

SPACE 01 is a Black-owned, artist-led gallery and studio in Chicago dedicated to art as a practice of resistance, care, and collective power. The space exists to support emerging artists of color in developing sustainable creative practices while confronting systems that marginalize, censor, and criminalize cultural work. Through exhibitions, workshops, and community programming, SPACE 01 operates as a site for political education, collaboration, and movement building.

SPACE 01 is operated by Trejon D’Angelo Williams, a Chicago-based artist working across photography, music, and food. Raised in Dallas, TX, Trejon’s practice is shaped by lived experience, community organizing, and a commitment to creating space where artists can work, gather, and build futures on their own terms.
